Origins of Ice- Ch. 7: A New Beginning
Chapter 7: A New Beginning
I awoke the next morning as soon as the sun peeked over the horizon. I was going to begin my travels today.
Though I was excited, I was also very nervous. I wasn’t sure what was out there waiting for me. I pushed my worries aside, trying to think of where I should go first. There was a wide, wide universe before me, full of new places. As I thought, I remembered hearing a clan mate speak of a beautiful planet full of diverse flora and fauna. That sounded like a good place to start. I tried to recall the name of the planet. After some thought, it came to me, planet Shonee was

Chapter 6: Parting Ways
The two of us reappeared in the wasteland we had been in previously. Though little time had passed since we left, it seemed as if that trip had taken at least half a day.
“Now for the easy part.” Shimo said, letting go of my hand, causing me to drop on my rear end.
I rubbed my head, which was still spinning from suddenly detecting so much energy at once.
“There isn’t much to this whole teleportation thing.” Shimo continued. “All you have to do is visualize of some place you want to go, focus solely on it for three s

I got back to my feet, still quivering slightly from the sudden rush of adrenaline.
“Now, when that attack flew past you, what did you feel?” Shimo asked.
“It was quite strong…” I commented.
“Right. You could feel the power of the energy I released. Now, you must learn to do that with the energy inside something.”
“How do I do that?” I asked. What she was saying made little sense to me.
“You must learn to pick up specific energies.” Shimo explained. “

Both of us remained in each other’s embrace for what seemed like forever. I had never felt so peacefully blissful. Finally, however, Shimo released me and stepped back. I put my arms back at my sides.
“…I suppose you will need somewhere else to stay now.” Shimo said.
I nodded in agreement. “Yes.” I paused. My sister and the small sack I had saved were all that remained of my life. I wanted very much to keep them both with me from now on. I gathered my courage and took a deep breath. “…Shimo, I want to travel with you.”

Chapter 3: Left with Nothing
“Koori!” The voice called out again. It seemed familiar, someone that I knew, someone that I had spoken with before.
I could not determine whether I was in reality or a dream before death. My eyes were practically blind and my ears had nearly been totally lost in the deafening silence.
“Koori! Stay with me!” The voice said.
Something grabbed me, lifting me up. I could only assume it was holding me close to itself, as I felt a body against my own. I looked up, making out a shadow of a figure. I couldn’t go on, I had no strength left. I slipped into unconsciousness.

Prologue
The sounds of blazing flames and screams of pain were all I could hear. I frantically looked around, trying to find some way to escape. The building I had so naively taken shelter in was now being engulfed by an angry, merciless fire. But, the heat of the fire paled in comparison to the subzero chill of fear that consumed me. My heart and breath raced faster than I could ever run. The smoke burned and blinded my tear-filled eyes. Why this was happening, I may never learn the answer. I prayed for the best, but expected the worst.
It was a day like any other. Little happened in our small clan, and we were fine wit

Slowly, I rose into the sky. I made for the explosions, driven by curiosity as well as concern. As I drew nearer, the noise grew more frequent and louder. I could hear shouting now as well. What in the world was going on?
I stopped a little way from the scene, lowering myself in hopes I would not be spotted. As I got a better look at what was going on, a sharp fear stabbed me like a dagger. Ships of soldiers had touched down on our planet! They seemed oddly familiar, but I could not place where I had seen them before. The artificial armor which they wore also gave me an unsettling, familiar feeling. As

I sped toward the village. I landed with a thud and rushed toward where our leader stayed. Others gave me curious looks as I rushed past them.
“What’s with her?” One asked another, but I did not have the time to care, my mind was focused solely on getting to our leader. If anyone knew what to do about this coming storm, it was him.
I threw courtesy to the wind, I was planning on simply barging in. I only stopped because the guard ordered me to do so.
“What is so important?” He demanded. “State your intentions.”
I struggled to regain my breath. “I…I must
